We are soliciting nominations to IUPAP commissions for the next 3 year cycle starting in July 2023!

About us

The purpose of the Canadian National IUPAP Liaison Committee (CNILC) is to represent interests of the Canadian Science Community in the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP).The CNILC is chaired by the CAP’s Director of International Affairs and includes the CNILC Secretary, an observer from the international adhering body to IUPAP (NRC), and five CAP members representing various sub-disciplines of physics. Canadian IUPAP Commission members are ex-officio members of the CNILC. CAP representatives are appointed for a period of three years, with one or two members being replaced each year. Canada’s association with IUPAP helps the Canadian science community to be better connected internationally and even nationally. For example IUPAP promotes and communicates the International System of Units (Commission C2 on Symbols, Units, Nomenclature, Atomic masses and IUPAP’s fundamental constants), survey the situation for women in physics and suggest policies on how improve the situation (WG 9).

Our Mandate

To assist in the worldwide development of physics, to foster international cooperation in physics, and to help in the application of physics towards solving problems of concern to humanity.·
Furthermore IUPAP sponsors 20 to 30 international conferences and award grants yearly. We also solicit nominations for the IUPAP Young Scientists Prizes.
